GovX supports inventory integration via the EDI 846 Inventory Advice document. By sending your 846, you will be able to communicate your products' quantity that is available to sell. This will ensure products with available inventory are visible on the GovX site and out-of-stock products are temporarily hidden. By regularly sending your 846, we will be able to minimize OOS cancellations and ensure a superior customer experience.
Getting Started
Step 1 | Choosing a Transmission Network
Before integrating with GovX you will need to have a partner account created in GovX. The GovX Integrations Manager will help you get an EDI connection established either through a direct FTP server or through a VAN such as SPS Commerce or TrueCommerce (formerly HighJump).
Step 2 | Coordinate Your Product Identifier
Prior to sending your 846, you will need to communicate to the GovX Integration Manager whether you will be using your SKU or UPC for the product identifier.
Step 3 | Coordinate your EDI Trading Qualifier/ID
You will need to share your EDI trading qualifier and ID with the GovX Integration Manager. GovX will provide their trading qualifier/ID once the transmission network is decided (VAN or FTP).
Step 4 | Transmission Frequency
Vendors who choose to communicate their inventory quantities via EDI are required to send an 846 daily, but those with shallow inventory or quick sell-through rates may be required to send it at a greater frequency.
Step 4 | EDI Testing
To pass EDI testing for the 846 inventory advice, you much first send GovX a sample of your 846 over the chosen transmission network decided in Step 1.
